Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information DialTone collects when you call a restaurant that uses our service, interact with us by SMS, place an order online or through a kiosk, or visit this website. DialTone is an AI-powered phone ordering, reservation, and messaging service used by independent restaurants.
01 What we collect
- Phone number: When you call a restaurant, we receive your caller ID from the phone network. We use it to identify returning customers, route your call, and send transactional text messages (payment links, order confirmations, receipts, reservation updates) or optional promotional messages you have consented to receive.
- Voice call content: Our AI agent transcribes and temporarily stores your side of the conversation so it can take your order or book a table. Call recordings may be retained short-term for quality review and dispute resolution.
- Order and Reservation details: Items you order, modifiers, pickup or delivery preferences, delivery addresses, and reservation times.
- Name: If you provide it during a call, online order, or booking.
- Location Data: If you opt into location-based services via a food truck's mobile app, we may collect precise or approximate location data to send nearby alerts.
- Payment information: Card payments are securely processed by Stripe, Inc. DialTone never stores your card number; Stripe sends us only a confirmation that payment succeeded.
- Website and App usage: Standard server logs (IP, user agent, page requested) and basic app performance metrics. We do not use tracking cookies on this marketing site.
02 How we use it
- To complete and manage the order or reservation you placed by phone, web, app, or kiosk.
- To send you secure payment links, order confirmations, receipts, and reservation updates via SMS.
- To let the restaurant's staff see, fulfill, and manage your request.
- With your explicit consent, to deliver promotional messages, loyalty rewards, special offers, and food truck location alerts via SMS or app notifications.
- To debug, maintain, and improve our automated voice and messaging services.
03 Service providers and Data Sharing
DialTone relies on a trusted tier of third-party infrastructure sub-processors to operate (including Supabase, Telnyx, Vapi, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Stripe, Sentry, and Cloudflare). We only share information with these providers as strictly necessary to deliver our services.
03.a SMS Consent and Mobile Data Protection (10DLC Compliance)
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone numbers or SMS consent data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
04 SMS messaging (Opt-In & Opt-Out)
If you interact with a restaurant powered by DialTone, you may receive SMS messages based on your interaction type and explicit consent:
- Transactional Messages: Order confirmations, receipts, ready alerts, and reservation updates. Message frequency varies typically based on your order activity.
- Promotional & Location Alerts: If you explicitly opt in verbally to an agent, via an un-checked box on an online/app ordering form, or through a self-service kiosk, you may receive promotional deals, loyalty notifications, or food truck proximity alerts.
Opt-Out: You can opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any text message received from our system. Reply HELP for assistance. Please note that opting out of transactional SMS will prevent us from sending you text-based payment links or digital receipts for your phone orders.
05 Data retention
Order and reservation records are retained for the restaurant's business records and regulatory purposes, typically for several years. Voice call transcripts and recordings are retained short-term (days to weeks) for platform optimization and quality control, then deleted.
06 Your rights
You can ask us to confirm what information we hold that is associated with your phone number, to correct it if it's wrong, or to request deletion (subject to the restaurant's own legal record-keeping obligations). Email hello@dialtone.menu with your request.
07 Children
DialTone is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
08 Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of our services or interaction with our platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
